I know it's only been a month since Warehouse 13 #4 graced the shelves, but I couldn't help but feel disappointed when I went to my comic book shop this past Wednesday and found that Warehouse 13 #5 wasn't in the pile of comic books that were pulled out from my box. While I was beyond ecstatic for what was placed in my hands, I couldn't help the small pout that formed upon my lips.
Seriously...with as awesome as the story has been since the first issue, can you honestly blame me?
Imagine then my excitement when I was given the chance to get a sneak preview of this coveted issue!
Now, while I obviously can't give you any real details as to what transpires during the course of the issue, I can at the very least promise you that it is VERY good and more than worth the wait. All of our favorite and beloved characters are in top form from Pete all the way down to Claudia. But not only that, you really see the team come together as only they can in a time of crisis.
Also, Claudia's trusty snow globe makes an appearance. ;) There! I gave you a teeny-tiny spoiler.
For those of you who haven't been following this jewel of a comic book series (or who aren't familiar with the television series upon which it's based) Warehouse 13 is based off of the powerhouse SyFy series of the same name. For those of you who have never seen the series before, think of it as Men in Black meets The Librarian with a healthy helping of Steampunk. If this piques your interest, then you can check out seasons 1 & 2 on Netflix (season 3 hasn't been uploaded yet). You can also find the last 5 full episodes of season 3 on both Hulu as well as the SyFy website.
However, while being familiar with the show itself certainly heightens the experience and enjoyment of reading the comic book series (I for example can actually hear the cadences of the different character's voices in my head as I read the dialogue), it's not necessary in order for you to enjoy the series. If you've never seen the show, you'll still be able to appreciate the action, the sense of camaraderie between the characters, as well as the humor that results from either a snappy piece of dialogue or a well-performed shennanigan.
That, and the art also continues to be very well done! Claudia and Artie especially look like their television counterparts.
Brought to you by Dynamite Entertainment, Warehouse 13 #5 is due to hit the shelves on Wednesday, April 4th. So, if you're like me and already have it on your Pull List, then you can look forward to fresh, brand-spanking-new copy when you next visit your local comic book shop. I know I will be giddy with excitement when I have a physical copy in my hands.
If you have yet to crack open an issue of this awesome series, then I highly encourage you to do so. Go ahead and pick up a copy of issue #5 when you go to your local comic book shop and flip through it. If you like what you see (and I'm fairly sure that you will) you'll be able to find the back-issues easily enough...and if the shop happens to be missing one or two, they can very easily be ordered in. ;)
Until next time!
