It's been a while since I last updated, but what can I say?
I've been busy, lol.
Not only have my husband and I moved from California to Minnesota (because California's economy was circling ever faster down the toilet, and we got tired of just barely scraping by as the job market gave jobs away to those who were less qualified), but I'm also growing a baby inside of me (something that I honestly never thought could or would ever happen), so napping has become my new favorite hobby. True, we made the road trip from California to Minnesota in November, but when you make such a move without a job waiting for you, things tend to get thrown up in the air for a little while as you make a hotel room your temporary home.
But all of that aside, I would be lying if I said that this move wasn't the right decision for us. Two days after arriving in Minnesota, my husband landed a job that he genuinely enjoys and looks forward to going into every day. Since moving here, things in our life seem to be finally falling into place. Hubby's happy at his job, we're in a much better environment (seriously...could the air here (and I'm including downtown Minneapolis in this) be any cleaner?!), we found a GREAT apartment, and after 5 years of trying for a baby and being told that I wouldn't be able to have one without fertility treatments, I find myself 16 weeks (4 months) pregnant.
Since moving here, we're both just generally...happy.
Yes...happy is definitely the word I'm looking for.
Well...I have the odd pregnancy-induced mood swing every now and then, but they never last long and I'm always right back to being happy again once they pass.
In any case, because of the move, things are still settling (we're still waiting for the majority of our things to be shipped to us such as our televisions, Xbox & games, and our comic books...just to name a few things), and as a result a lot of the things that we used to love doing on a regular basis (gaming, getting the latest issues of our favorite comic books, etc) have been put on hold. This of course is keeping me from posting my views on The New 52 (for those of you who don't read comics, it's the 52 comic books that DC Comics rebooted and thereby saved from the chopping block....oh, my dear Power Girl may you rest in peace...).
Rest assured that once things are more settled and once we find ourselves a new comic book shop (I mean, sure...you can order them on line, but that takes all the fun out of being amongst your fellow geeks), then I will waste no time in catching up on what I've missed. Lord knows I'm especially chomping at the bit for the new TMNT comics (I know, they're not done by DC, but I've been looking forward to new issues since I heard IDW was taking up the reins from Mirage...and the teaser comic they released at this year's Comic-Con only made me hungrier!
Believe me when I say that I'm going through some serious withdrawals...usually manifesting themselves in the form of my dreaming that I'm either a character in a video game or a comic book (a very much welcomed change from the pregnancy-induced nightmares that I've been having...and as normal as those might be, it doesn't make them any less terrifying for a first-time mother-to-be).
If only I could channel these withdrawals into something more productive, like inspiration for my fanfiction instead of simply staring blankly at my computer screen.
That's the dream right there...
Congrats on the baby and the move!!!!! :D:D
ReplyDeleteI'm from Minnesota, Marshall, actually. I hope that you enjoy it! Especially the winters! :3
Also, congrats on the new apartment and I'm glad that your husband likes his job!
